Commercial Power over Ethernet(PoE)

Power over Ethernet or POE technology describes a system to transfer electrical power, along with data, to remote devices over standard twisted-pair cable in an Ethernet network. This technology is useful for powering IP telephones, wireless access points, network cameras, remote network switches, embedded computers, and other appliances where it would be inconvenient, expensive (mains wiring    must t often be done by qualified and/or licensed electricians for legal or insurance reasons) or infeasible to supply power separately

There are two types of PoE Switches

1.    Full power:  Guarantee per port like 15.4(802.3af) or 30(802.3at) watt. It means you can connect as many as PD devices and the switch will be able to power them at 15.4 watt each port or 30 watts at the same time

2.    Total Power Budget: Can only power as many devices as it has power to spare.  Total Power- Switch own power consumption < 15.4* Number of PoE port or < 30* Number of PoE port
